Vishal Javvaji
Vishal is pursuing his Ph.D. in ChBE and joined our lab in Fall 2008. He has a B.Tech. in ChemE from Osmania University in India. Vishal is being co-advised by Prof. Greg Payne (BioE). The goal of his work is to build new types of biomaterials by exploiting principles from electrochemistry, photochemistry, and molecular self-assembly. His work has been published as a Cover Article in Langmuir.

Kunal Pandit
Kunal obtained his B.S. in ChBE from our department in 2009. He then stayed on and got his M.S. in ChBE in 2012 working with Prof. Jeff Klauda. He was then admitted to the Ph.D. program and joined our lab on a project where he is co-advised by Prof. Ian White (BioE). His work involves finding ways to exploit microfluidic systems for molecular diagnostics.

Chanda Arya
Chanda entered the Ph.D. program in ChBE in Fall 2010. He is a B.S. graduate of our department and has been working in our lab since 2009. In his Ph.D. research, Chanda is creating microparticles using microfluidics and exploring their use for capturing circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from blood. His project is a collaboration with Prof. Don DeVoe (MechE) and Dr. Sam Forry at NIST.

Bani Cipriano
Bani is a Ph.D. alumnus of our group in 2007. His B.S. in ChE is also from UMD in 2002. After his Ph.D., Bani worked for a number of years with Balchem Inc. in NJ. Thereafter, he decided to explore a fresh challenge that eventually lead to his returning to our lab as a postdoc since March 2012. His project is funded by a startup company called Prasidiux Inc., and it seeks to bring to market a range of temeperature sensors based on hydrogels.
